Sarah Haslam
Sarah Haslam is the Pioneer who has been instrumental in the development of a cafe, connecting the congregation at her church, with the community that use their busy building. The God-given vision, which emerged sitting at the traffic lights in the centre of the village, initially focussed on taking over a local cafe, but has developed into a transformation of the church itself. It has also kick-started a wider program of development. The most exciting thing, as Sarah says ‘is establishing relationships with those using our building’ – before they would simply pass through without anyone engaging with them. When Sarah isnt Pioneering, at Heworth Methodist church, she is a busy full-time teacher.
